Cancer Research Foundation Privacy Policy

Once a year, in a regularly scheduled newsletter, the Cancer Research Foundation publishes a printed alphabetical listing of all donors during the fiscal year just ended. In a highlighted box on this page, is the following statement:

“Your name is not for sale. The Cancer Research Foundation does not buy, rent or sell donors’ names. We believe that your gifts to fund cancer research are truly gifts from the heart, and we will not raise money by selling your right to privacy.”

Occasionally, a donor will ask that we not publish his/her name, and we do not. We honor their wishes by listing them as anonymous.

Beginning with the fall, 2006, newsletter, which will publish a list of donors for fiscal year 2005-2006, and on the same page, highlighted, will the following message appear:

“Your name is not for sale. The Cancer Research Foundation does not buy, rent or sell donors’ names. We believe that your gifts to fund cancer research are truly gifts from the heart, and we will not raise money by selling your right to privacy.”

“Your name is in our computer database; this is the listing from which your name and address are used for newsletter-envelopes. On your database page, we have your name, and the names of your spouse, parents and/or children - if you ask us to. We have your address, and your phone number if you provide the data. We enter the amount of any donation. We have no additional personal information. At the Cancer Research Foundation, to access the database a password is required to view privileged information. This database is used by one person only in our office. Our printer gets from us a computer-generated list of donor names and addresses only.”

“If you want to have your name and address removed from our database, phone, mail, email or fax your request, and we will remove all information we have.”

This statement also appears on our website - which we are “remodeling” at present. It may take a couple of days to get this statement on the first page of the Cancer Research Foundation website.
