Winter 2005 Newsletter: Connections with Friends.

In our last two newsletters we have brought you good news about a new and very exciting initiative: the BEST cancer scientists and cancer physicians working together with the BEST physicists, chemists, mathematicians and computer scientists, environmentalists and social scientists in NEW and EFFICIENT and CONVENIENT shared laboratory spaces with STATE-OF-THE-ART equipment.

Their collaboration will create a CRITICAL MASS of brain-wealth fostering the development of new therapies and new tools for the PREVENTION, TREATMENTS and CURES for cancers. This transformation will take place in two new research buildings connected to each other by walkways at THE UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO.

The CANCER RESEARCH FOUNDATION will play an integral part, by funding a $1.5 million program in gastrointestinal cancer. YOU are the reason we can do this. YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS fund cancer research. Whether you send us CASH, or gifts of appreciated PROPERTY, whether you buy our all-occasion CARDS or our Holiday cards, whether you send us MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS or PAYROLL DEDUCTIONS gifts, it is your trust in the Cancer Research Foundation's stewardship that makes it possible for us to fund this program and all programs we fund. Much has been learned about cancer in the past 15 YEARS - as much as has been learned since the inception of research into the causes of cancer.

“DISCOVERY IS OUR BUSINESS” said Dr. Charles B. Huggins, Nobel Laureate and recipient of Cancer Research Foundation funding from the beginning of his scientific journey and throughout his lifetime. This year, more men, women and children will SURVIVE their cancer experiences. Because of YOU, every year the number of survivors will grow larger.
