Holiday 2004 Newsletter: Breast Cancer Awareness Poem

It came uninvited,
invading our hearts, our minds,
our emotions, our soulsand our bodies. Suddenly, in an instant, nothing was the same.
We were thrust into learning a new dance
and our partner was breast cancer.
Working through the shock, anger, denial
and fear unknowingly
we had become brave, courageous warriors.
In the circle, with our hearts beating as one,
we shared our stories
with Grace, grit, humor and tears.
Who is the leader in this dance?
Will Cancer lead the dance
fostering fear and trepidation?
No, we will lead the dance savoring each precious
moment, seeing, smelling, hearing, tasting and
touching our beloved world.
We will be the leader in this dance.
We have said “Yes” and joined the circle of life.
